Hope someone can help with this frustrating windows problem.
On my father's laptop, he sporadically gets spurious context menu
popups, as if he had pressed the right mouse button even though he has
not. Sometimes all is fine for days, and then it happens only a few
times, but sometimes it happens every 5 seconds for 30 minutes before
going away, making the machine temporarily unusable.

We've tried the following, all with no effect:

1. Upgrade to Windows XP SP2 (to fix other gremlins)
2. Thorough virus and spyware check, in case of hijacks
3. Disabling click zones and the right button itself on the touchpad
(Synaptics), in case it was a physical button problem.

He sees it mainly in MS Word, but since that is really all he uses that
does not say much. Machine is a Dell Inspiron 2600 notebook, about 2
years old.

Any suggestions? Thanks, Martin

Check the control panel make sure the tap feature is turned off.

When my systems resources are low on my laptop I have encountered this
problem. Maybe you need to add some RAM and/or do some system house
cleaning. I fould the problem was less likely to happen after I
defraged the HD and deleated old stuff.
