Hello,
I've been having a lot of problems with Spoolersv.exe
whenever it is running, it keeps on increasing the size of ms word document
for example from 200 k to 400 mg then word runs out of memory, if I disable
the Spooler service none of this happens.

can I replace Spoolersv with a fresh copy. any other solutions

Thanks in Advance

You can delete it and it will recreate itself on reboot but if you have
Office 2003 then also make sure you do not have any documents in the print
queue of the Microsoft document image writer printer.

Thanks for your reply, if I disable the spooler service, is there a way of
getting print jobs to print directly to printer

If the print spooler stops working you have a couple problems.

1) Uninstall the printer driver for the printer causing the problem.

2) If it's a network printer, meaning you setup the printer on a server
and access it from your machine via that network share, uninstall it
from the server too.

3) Reboot the workstation (and server if you installed it on a server to
share with everyone).

3a) you can read more about cleaning the drivers/reinstalling them from
this chaps site: http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

4) Enable the Spooler service and allow it to Auto start.

5) Setup the printer again - make sure that you download the LATEST
PRINTER DRIVER from your vendors site, don't just use the drivers that
came with the printer or the ones that MS wants to install. Get the
latest drivers and use them.

6) Now that the printer is reinstalled, right click and select
Properties (from the printer) and then select Print Test Page.

7) If the "Print test page" works, then the spooler service is also
working properly.

8) Make sure that you set the printer as the Default printer.

9) Open MS Word, type "Hello World" and print that page, if it prints
then all is good. If not, and you've done all of the above, then post
back and let us know.

No, if you disable it you will see nothing in your printers folder. You can
also delete the spoolss.dll which is associated with spoolsv.exe they both
will be recreated.
