spooky cursor

Hi,
every once in a while my cursor will start moving by itself in one
direction. First it starts slowly, then it gradually gets faster until
it becomes unmanageable. How can this problem be solved.

How are we supposed to guess with the little information you give.
What kind of mouse is it? Wired, Wireless? Ball mouse or optical? USB or PS2 connection?
Have you tried another mouse (borrowed or purchased)?

If it's wireless try changing the batteries.

Weak batteries give an opposite effect.
