splitting source files to fit as data on DVD

Hi,

I used WMM to import from my digital camera. I want to be able to save the
footage on DVD in its orginal format (that is, as a source file rather than
as an edited movie).

Problem is, I have imported in large files - up to 9Gb - too big to fit as a
data file on a DVD.

Is there any easy to split the source files into smaller files, so that I
can easy save them to disk? Or do I have to copy them from tape all over
again, in smaller chunks?

You can split them - see www.papajohn.org - look near the bottom of the
left-side menu bar I think there are tools listed... if my memory serves me
right...

Good idea to read the whole site anyway ;-)

Mac,

Thank you - I went to Papajohn - its a pretty amazing site.

I spent half an hour doing searches and going into lots of parts of the
site, but did not find any direct reference to splitting source files. There
were a few interesting thing about splitting movies, and other stuff about
handling different kinds of source files. But not what I am after.

I'm a novice at this - can you give me another pointer what to look for?

Well, you could just split your current WMM project into two?

Insert a suitable split point - delete second half, save project as
*newname1*
Then Edit, undo, delete first half, save project as *newname2*...

Giving you two projects to save to two DVDs?

I think Mac means remove rather than delete.
