Need help burning to DVD

Mick

I've imported about 400 photos into WMM. I've arranged them in order, added
video effects and transition effects. When I click on "Save to DVD" it saves
in on the "C" drive rather than to the "E" drive (for burning DVDs). When I
try to then copy it from its location on the "C" drive, I get a mesage that
Windows has encountered a problem trying to copy the file. Clicking on
"Retry" does no good. I have the file saved in "MY Videos" as well as "My
DVDs". How do I get it to burn on the DVD. BTW, I can burn videos using "My
Muvees"; but, that program, without upgrading, allows only 50 photos to go to
the DVD.

If you have the file saved in the .wmv or .avi movie
format the following freeware might be worth a try
for authoring your DVD.

(FWIW) It's always a good idea to create a System
Restore Point before installing software or updates)

DVD Flick
http://www.dvdflick.net/

Be sure to read the Guide:
http://www.dvdflick.net/guide.php

If you have problems downloading DVD Flick...
try the following direct link:
http://tinyurl.com/yzx9sck
or...
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pr...dflick_setup_1.3.0.7.exe?use_mirror=softlayer

Save the file to a folder on your hard drive and
install from there.

Tutorials:

DVD Flick Tutorial

Burn Any PC Video Format into DVD
http://www.freevideoworkshop.com/dvdflicktutorial.htm

To create a basic Video DVD that should play in a free
standing DVD player...try the following...

First...read the DVD Flick Guide to familiarize yourself
with the program.

Open DVD Flick and insert a blank DVD in your burner.

If your computer's Autoplay window opens....just close it.

Click the Project Settings button and go to...Video /
Target format...residents of USA...choose...NTSC /
Accept.

Left click the Add title button and browse to your
Movie Clips and select the ones you want on the DVD.

You can arrange them by selecting one and then use
the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

Left click the Create DVD button / OK / Yes / Yes.

Wait while the DVD is created.

When the text "Finished Successfully" appears you
may close DVD Flick. Now you can eject your DVD
and play it in your DVD player.

At some point you may wish to purchase more
advanced software like Cyberlink, Nero, Roxio,
Ulead, etc...but at least this is a start.

Good luck.

I'm still having major problems. Here is what I have done so far.
First: I used Windows Movie Maker and finally was able to burn a portion of
the "movie" to DVD. It seems to stop at about 3 MB of memory.
Next: I downloaded Ashampoo but it wouldn't publish the WMM file. I
believe it is an extension problem; but, I'm not really sure.
Then: I downloaded Free Movie DVD Maker. It copied everything to the DVD
and played back wonderfully on my computer monitor. When I put it in a DVD
player to play it on a large screen TV, I got an immediate error message.
Now: I have downloaded Photo Story 3 for Windows based upon a
recommendation you made in another thread. It appears to be a great program;
however, I cannot download it. I find no option in the program to download
it so I have saved it to both "My DVDs" and "My Videos." When I try to then
burn it to a DVD, I get a pop-up that says Windows can't read the file. I'm
getting close to a deadline and would really appreciate any help.

Sorry, I have no experience with Ashampoo or
Free Movie DVD Maker.

Did you ever save your original Movie Maker project
in the .wmv movie format? If you did...you should have
been able to use that file to create a Video DVD with
DVD Flick.

Anyway.....

When you say you cannot "download" PhotoStory 3...
do you mean...

1) you cannot download it from the net to your hard drive,

2) you cannot install it

3) you cannot save the project in the .wmv movie format.

And...I'm not convinced that you need PS3 at this point...

FWIW...here are the steps to save your Movie Maker
project in the .wmv movie format:

In Movie Maker...to save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

I am in the process of trying to save to a dvd also but the movie maker takes
up alot of room when you use the transitions. I had to take mine out to get
it to even play in my windows media player. I still can get it to burn to a
dvd.
