Hi,

I've got a large MP3-file containing many hours of dance music (DJ mix). I
want to burn this file on a CD using Nero burner, but I also want to split
this file into several tracks. This will make it easier to navigate to a
specific part of the show.

Which program is capable of doing this? Can it be done by Nero (couldn't
find out how)?

OS is windows-xp sp2 BTW.

Thanks in advance!

You can use this freeware to break it down into seperate mp3 files:

Add the MP3 to an audio CD compilation in Nero.

Right click this audio track and select Properties.

Look at the tab named Indexes, Limits, Split.
Here you can effectively chop a large track into many smaller tracks.

When you right click the audio track you'll also see the Audio Editor - you
can use this to further process the track.

Martin.

You can use the Nero Wav Editor if you have that available or this open
source program:

Thanks to all of you. I had already found a mp3-splitter myself (called mp3
splitter and joiner) and it's doing what I initially wanted. However, after
burning the splitted files to the disk, I still didn't get the desired
result, cuz there ain't no smooth transition between the tracks; iow: my
Sony mp3-player stops playing (i.e. "producing sound") for about one second
while moving the head to the next track, and then starts playing the next
track.

It also depends on the mp3-player being used. Winamp (on my PC) does it
quite good, my Marantz DVD-player too while my sony player stops playing
music for at least one second.

Jimmy, I'll have a look at your suggestion and see if it can be done with
those programs. If it doesn't work, then I'll have to convert the mp3-file
to an audio file as suggested by Martin.
