Splitting a MP3-file

Hi,

I've got a large MP3-file containing many hours of dance music (DJ mix). I
want to burn this file on a CD using Nero burner, but I also want to split
this file into several tracks. This will make it easier to navigate to a
specific part of the show.

Which program is capable of doing this? Can it be done by Nero (couldn't
find out how)?

OS is windows-xp sp2 BTW.

Thanks in advance!

Not an XP question. You need an audio editor application that will
either edit .MP3, or (common alternative) as a huge .WAV after
converting it & then converting the edited .WAV's back to .mp3's. FWIW
the often-OEM-bundled MusicMatch has a handy file converter. If your
..mp3 is huge you may have a resource challenge working with it.

Thanks to all of you. I had already found a mp3-splitter myself (called mp3
splitter and joiner) and it's doing what I initially wanted. However, after
burning the splitted files to the disk, I still didn't get the desired
result, cuz there ain't no smooth transition between the tracks; iow: my
Sony mp3-player stops playing (i.e. "producing sound") for about one second
while moving the head to the next track, and then starts playing the next
track.

It also depends on the mp3-player being used. Winamp (on my PC) does it
quite good, my Marantz DVD-player too while my sony player is silent for at
least one second.

Many audio-cd's can be burnt without an noticeable transition; I will have a
look at the websites pointed by you to see if there's any solution for this
problem.
