Split database - manually changing the link path

(this maybe duplicate - I got an error message the first time I tried
to send it)

Hope someone can help me. I successfully split the database into
back-end and front-end.
The back-end is stored in our network share drive (Q) and the front-end
is saved onto each user's desktop.

One of the offices cannot access the network share drive using the
physical path (Q:\DI-Share\...), they could only access this drive
using the \\entshare\DI-Data\DI-Share\ path.

The links from the front-end to the back-end points to the physical
path (Q:\DI-Share\)....I need to know how I could change this link to
point to \\entshare\DI-Data\... instead.

Thank you,
Sharon

Open the linked table manager. Select teh tables. Down in the lower left
corner is a box to Always Prompt for location. Check that box. When you
click the OK button, you will get a dialog box. Browse along the UNC
(Universal Naming Convention) path (\\entshare...) to find your back end and
link.

For future reference, it's usually good practice to use the UNC instead of a
mapped drive.

Use the Menu command Tools / Database / Utilities / Link Table Manager to
relink the Tables using the UNC, i.e. \\server\share\ ...

In fact, all copies of the Front-End should use UNC rather than mapped
drives as Roger advised.

Thank you Van and Bill, your instructions really helped me figure it
out.
Thank you Roger. I could not figure out what you said but after reading
Van and Bill's responses, I think you said the same thing they did.

I just had it tested and it worked!! :)

I'm so glad my company (using Websense) didnt block this newsgroup or I
would be lost.

What I meant by 'I couldn't figure' out was due to my limited
'computer' terminology knowledge. It didn't click until I read the
other responses.
