Spelling dictionary set to French in a Word file

I received a document from another Word user. When I tried to check the
spelling in the document, I got a message telling me that the French
dictionary was not loaded, and asking if I wanted to add it. I clicked OK.

When I ran spell check after that, it stopped on words that were spelled
correctly. The title bar in the spell checker reads "Spelling and Grammar:
French (France)."

How do I remove the French dictionary as the default dictionary for spell
check on this document?

I'm running Word 2003.

Thanks.

Make sure none of the text is tagged as French, that is what is calling the
French dictionary. Select all and use Tools | Language to assign English to
all the text.

Go to Format in the menu bar and select reveal formatting from the drop down
menu. Click on Language in the Reveal Formatting menu at the right of the
screen. In the Language message box, select an Engligh language and click on
the Default button at the bottom left of the message box. Click on the Yes
button in the next message box. This will change the default language to
English.
