After upgrading from Netscape to Windows XP I lost Spell
Checker.
Please clarify what you're asking. Netscape is a browser and
Windows XP is an operating system. You can't upgrade from one to
the other because they are entirely different things. It's like
saying you upgraded your French Poodle to a swimming pool.
Perhaps you mean that you switched from using Netscape to
Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, and that you can't get the
spelling checker in Outlook Express to work. If so, read the
following:
Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever
come with a Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the
spell checker that comes with Microsoft Word, (or another
Microsoft Office program) if you have it installed.
If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't
have a spell checker. However there are several downloadable
freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with
Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience
with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend one.
On the other hand, if a Microsoft Office component *is*
installed, try the instructions at
