I had win.98 and bought a new computer with XP.
Is there any way to activate the spell check in
outlook without purchasing the programs stated
in the help section.
Thanks
Hank

you need to purchase some type of software to do it. either a third party
spell checker or Microsoft Office or Word.

Probably is a way to do it with Outlook Express. I recall it discussed
in the newsgroup. Perhaps you can search old postings.

You could consider using Mozilla as your email client. Version 1.5
(current one) has integrated spell checking. Mozilla is freely
available at www.mozilla.org.

No, it can't be done without an external spell checker. Neither
Outlook nor Outlook Express has one. However, besides the spell
checker that comes with Microsoft Office, there are several
downloadable freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that
work with Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal
experience with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend
one.

Better way:

Obviously, if you have a MS Office version installed, you should be able to
activate the spell chaeck feature under the options. Unfortunately, there
is a glitch with some Office versions the prevent the spell check from
working properly so do this:

An alternative FREE spell check program if you do not have an MS Office
version:
