My spell check is working for misspelled words, however, if I have an extra
space between words, it is not working. I thought FOR SURE this used to
work, is MS playing mind games with me?
Can someone help before I send a letter that looks like total garbage?

It isn't a spell check thing, it's a grammar check thing. Word will
always flag extra spaces between words inside a sentence. You can
choose whether you want it to check for one or two spaces between
sentences.

Go to Tools > Options > Spelling & Grammar. First make sure the box is
checked for "Check grammar with spelling". If you want to see the
green underline where the wrong number of spaces was used, check the
box for "Check grammar as you type". If it's unchecked, it will flag
the spaces only when you manually start a spell check.

Then click the Settings button. Select the number of spaces you want
between sentences.

I do get the green line if I have the incorrect amount of spaces between
sentences. However, I don't get a green line if there is an incorrect number
of spaces between words. Even when I run spell check automatically or
manually it does not pick up the extra spaces between words.

I do get greeen lines if there are extra spaces between sentences, however,
I do NOT get a green line or any indication that there are extra spaces
between words. If I run spell check automatically or manually, no indication.
I have checked my settings, am I missing something?

I don't know. It always works for me. In fact, I can't find any setting that
would turn it off.
