speeding up booting up

My Home-XP seems to need a tuneup so that when turning it
on, it boots up quicker. It does not seem to be a quick
as it was when first installed. Is there a utility that
checks this every once in a while and corrects the
problem or any suggestions?

Could be there are too many programs being started in your startup folder.
Check there first.
