Hello,
My old AMD k6 is running ok with xp, with minimum software, works fine sharing a Internet connection. I am curious that when it had win98, system showed CPU at 360MHz. With xp it shows 166MHz, is this to do with different OS?
Regards

It may be a bug detecting the speed in a K6, but WinXP can't run on a 166Mhz CPU (thin the min was 233Mhz), so you should be fine :)

Put it down to some random oddity ;)

Yes, there is a "bug" (and a few otheres) in XP that fails to detect a K6 properly.

Go to Windows Update Site and use the "custom" button ... always use the custom button ... and you should find an update for your CPU ... and proably a few other updates.

;)

Thanks both,
It is working ok and I scanned for compatibility using the xp os disk before the clean install. Will try the upgrades.
Cheers
