what are the most important factors determining the speed at which programs respond in a remote desktop connection
some programs at the remote computer are very snappy, while others are very slow. how can i speed-up those programs

is the inetrnet connection speed the most important
is it the ram of the remote computer (host)
is it the ram of the client computer (local)
is it the processor speed of the remote computer (host)
is it the processor speed of the client computer (local)

The faster machines, the faster connections the better.

Both the host and the local machines resources matter. If you need to make a
choice between those 2, then I'd say with a decent internet connection, the
server should have better resources than the local machine.
