The speech recog engine crashes regularly. Not sure why.

I am using Adobe Premiere (which always gives me an "out of memory error") and the speech engine in Vista seems to crash around that time too.

Daniel,

Does it 'crash' (AV) or does it say something like "Speech Recognition has
stopped working"? This message appears when the the Wave Audio stack fails
to deliver audio to the speech engine for more than 5 seconds. This can
happen when the system is under stress - such as in a low memory condition.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

As you say, I get the message that speech recog has stopped working, so it
really doesn't "crash" as such.

As far as low memory conditions, I have 1.5 gigs ram and run Adobe Premiere
Elements to edit videos. It gobs up every ounce of memory and processor it
can get, so it's perhaps why the speech system fails.

I have a regular pentium 4 HTT, 1.5 gigs rams, and 2 hard disk with lots of
empty space.

When I click on any link in "Speech Recognition" ("Setup microphone" or
"Start speech recognition"), I get this error-message:

"The referenced collection is not installed on you system"

What can I do to fix this? Cause I really want to use Speech Recognition...
