Special section for Index ?

I have a long document, with the Index as a last section (chapter). The title Index is Heading 7 formatted, placed into a table as section 14.
After the table I do: Insert-> Index and Tables and insert the Index. But the Index comes automatically as section 15. This way I can not number the pages as Index-1, Index-2.... Why is not the title table AND the Index in the same section 14 ??? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

The index is multi-column, right? Changing the number of columns requires a
section break. But it should be a Continuous break, and this should not
disrupt your numbering provided the Section 15 footer is set to Same As
Previous.
