my question is can i hook another pair of speakers to my
computer and can it be put into the external jack on the
back of the cpu. and also will both sets have sound at
the same time.thanks art

You could use a Y-splitter, but you would lose some signal strength, and it
would still be 2-channel stereo sound. You can get a 4.1 channel sound card for
as little as $30 these days.
 
Depends on your computer. The ASUS A7N8X has support for 6 channel
sound by configuring the line in and microphone jacks to support the
other four speakers in addition to the standard stereo desktop
speakers.

The Intel 865PERL has three audio out jacks that also supports 6
speaker systems.
