Speakers suddenly not working

Windows Update ran last night, so when I woke up this morning my computer had
restarted.

Now the speakers aren't working. If I connect headphones to the jack, I get
sound, but nothing from the speakers.

I've gone through and checked the properties on the speakers, and everything
is fine, according to Vista.

It's a brand new (bought in March) Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with Windows Vista
Business pre-installed.

The Windows Update that was installed overnight had something to do with
connecting iPods. I don't know how that would affect the speakers, but the
speakers were working fine when I went to bed last night.

Thanks for the suggestions. I updated my BIOS to a new version that came out
in April, and the speakers are working again.

Very troubling.
