speakers are not working

yea..my speakers that came with my dell computer seem to
not be working properly....when ever i play any music or
anything at all for that matter... no sound comes out of
the speakers...i do not know what the problem is,
everything is plugged in properly and everything...if
anyone can tell me anything at all that could
help...please do...thank you
