Speaker settings

Upgraded my speakers to a 4 speaker system with
subwoofer (creative 4.1) but XP wont keep the setting in
the control panel. Keeps reverting to 'desktop speakers'
in the advanced section of speaker settings menu, despite
setting 'quadrophonic'or '5.1'then pressing 'apply'
and 'ok'.

Any help appreciated

if you connected the speakers using the yellow plug from the speakers into
the yellow jack on a Creative sound card...you have made a "digital"
connection. Choose "digital output only" from the advanced options, on the
speakers tab...choose the "quad" selection, and you should be good to go.
