Speaker Problem

Odd problem just encountered in the past day.

I have no sound from my 2 speaker set-up - I have a utility for testing
speaker set-ups - if I change to a four speaker system within the utility I
get a test sound from the two newly added speakers - however this setting
still does not play system or any other sound.

Hope that's not too confusing - btw I have recently taken the WMP10 updates
- this may be an issue perhaps - as I only noticed the problem after this
update.

Cheers

Start>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio>Volume tab>
Speaker Setttings>Advanced button>Speaker Setup
Check that the settings are set up for your equipment or
at least to desktop speakers.

Thanks for posting - unfortunately I've tried everything in there to no avail.

Hi,

Thanks for sticking with me - again nothing in there did the trick.

It looks as though I may need to install a new soundcard - I did go to my
mobo's site and installed their updated drivers - these were not MS signed
but were newer than my previous drivers - still no luck.

I still can't quite get my head round why when I switch to a 4 speaker
system in my sound manager app that I should get sound from the 2 speakers
(which are not there - if you see what I mean)

Cheers

I'll stick with you before you invest in a replacement soundcard.
As I stated before, go here and try all the different settings, not
just the desktop, quadrophonic or surround sound. Also check
your speakers themselves, that they are connected together in
accordance with instructions. If some of your speakers work,
then your soundcard should be OK, but that depends on the setup.

I've tried every combination in there - still no luck. Fortunately I have a
mate who is in the PC repair business, she's coming with a new soundcard and
new speakers and we will surely get a fix, either by a process of elimination
or replacement!

Thanks for your help - I'll post with a new thread should we still be having
problems after trying the above!!
