Speaker icon keeps disappearing!

Every time I restart my computer, the speaker icon in the notification area
disappears! I have to go to Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices and
uncheck "Place Volume Icon in the Task Bar", press "Apply", then recheck
that box, press "Apply" again and then it comes back, but the next time I
reboot, it's gone again and I have to repeat the process. I have another PC
on my Network (same OS) and it doesn't have this problem!

Any ideas? I'll check MS's knowledge base too!

Thanks all!

Try disabling the SSDP Discovery Service service and the Universal Plug
and Play Device Host service in services.msc. Post back if you need
more help with doing that.
