SPDIF is greyed out in XP

When I double click on the speaker icon on the lower right, the PCM SPDIF is
greyed out. As a result (according to my computer manufacter - Shuttle XPC)
it is MS Windows issue. I've already installed the most updated audio
drivers for my sound card: VIA Envy24 PT. How can I enable SPDIF in windows
xp?

to the XP Embedded toolkit or a general Windows XP question? If it's not XP
