spam prog like mailwasher

M

mike ring

I've been having trouble with mailwasher free version (I have 2 different
version2's) and they are both causing a lot of crashing to the point where
I can't use them any more.

I've reinstalled, reg - cleaned till I'm blue in the face.

I wonder if anyone has a link to an earlier, stable version, all the links
I can find point to the mailwasher page, which has no earlier versions.

Alternatively, does anyone know of a prog which works like mailwasher?

I've tried various filter progs, and although they are very impressive,
what works for me is just to look at the headers and blitz the ones I don't
want - I would love to stick with mailwasher, but it's impossible.

(It's the same on my backup box, also 98SE)

I'm trying PPMailcheck, but finding it hard to get on with, so any other
ideas, please?

Have you tried any others off the Pricelessware list?

I use SpamPal. I've been using it about 2 months, and have yet to find any
problems with it.

mailwasher-ver1.30.exe

mailwasher-ver1.32.exe

mailwasher133.exe

mailwasher2b21.exe

OH THank you thank you thank you Russ.

How long has that site been hiding?

I'll have a look at emailmanager, but so far nothing fis my profile like
mailwasher, I hope the earlier versions are stable, the free version was ok
ish, but has been getting worse and worse, when I start it the computer
thinks it's running, but I get no screen and all attempts to stop it end in
a crash.

It took forever to download, speed was well under 1kB, perhaps all the
world and his dog rushed off to the site as well!

Or it was btinternet

Many thanks

Thanks Bob, but my early mailwasher Russ pointed to seems to be working
fine, and Ijuust love it.

One simple rule (mail not to me) gets it all prechecked to ditch, and if it
tags legit mail ie subscribed newsletters just ticking it as a friend fixes
that.

It fits my profile perfectly, which is why I was so keen to get a stable
version

Mike,

I'll file that away in case something comes along that gives SpamPal
trouble. It's good to know there's at least 1 other real good spam filter.

Sorry for the late entry to this thread. I had inquired about this but did
not hear anything so I thought I'd give it a shot here.

I recently loaded MailWasher 2.0.04 and have yet found how to set it to
automatically check for mail. If I mark the box "Preform default mail
check ever "-" minutes nothing happens. I am on cable and wondered it this
function is only for dial up service. I have viewed the online help files
with no luck.

Thank You

I don't know if cable makes a difference, but if you go into

Tools>Accounts and click on Properties, the "include this account in
default mail check" box should be checked.

Of course I've now reverted to Version 1.33, as version 2 kept crashing my
computer, and version 2 does not allow multiple accounts, so that box may
not be there.

OTOH if 2 is a crippled version of an earlier one, it may be...

That is indeed odd. I noticed that this function and a couple others that
were shown in the Web based help files did not show up on this version.
When going to Tools>Accounts and clicking on Properties there is no
"include this account in default mail box" to check off.

I'll download 1.33 and give it a go

Thanks
