Spam from my domain

Shay

Hi all,
Just a little question.

I have a domain name registered through UKReg and a Hosting Package through
Supanames.

I've recently been getting emails from various email servers telling me that
mail that I sent couldn't be delivered e.g. "No such recipient".... but I
haven't sent the mail but it seems to be originating from my address e.g
kjshdfkhksdj@"mydomain".com (I have a "catch all" email account) ... all
mail being bounced back seems to be spam.

I have contacted my Host (Supanames) and they have informed me that it could
be a virus/Trojan on my or someone's machine (that someone having my email
address) and there's nothing much that can be done.

This same problem occurred about 3mths ago and then I modified any mailto
links on my site e.g. webmaster@(Spamremove)mydomain.com and it seemed to
stop.

Any ideas?

Simplest explanation: a spammer is using you email address to
send the rubbish. There is not much you can do about it. It will
stop sooner or later.

Someone is forging email using your email address. Check your sendmail logs
to verify that the email was not sent from your domain. I bet it was not.
The problem is this. Spammers forge email using real email address. They
can get them from various sources (like this news group). When the email is
bounced, for whatever reason, it is sent back to you because the spammer
used your email address...

In short don't worry about it. At worst it is just a little annoying..
