spaces in email address

Craig

We have an external email server that allows for addressing email to group
names but the group names contain spaces.

In our Groupwise address book I was able to create a 'contact' with an email
address of "Group Name"@domain.com Double quoting the string allowed GW
to treat it as a valid email address.

Outlook won't accept the double quotes as delimiters for the group name. I
have tried several other characters with no success.

How can I specify the group name, including the spaces, in the Email address
field for Outlook 2007?

Thanks.

I don't know if it will work, but did you try using %20 to take the place of
the space? I don't think spaces are legal characters in mail addresses.

Brian, thanks for the reply.

You are correct, a true email address won't accept spaces but some mail
systems look lke they accept delimited strings as valid email address which
would then allow spaces in the name.

That's my challenge, finding the allowable string delimiter with Outlook.

I did try the %20 for the space and while the OL contact folder took the
Group%[email protected] as a valid email address name for some reason the
other mail router for domain.com received it as Group%%[email protected];
which resulted in an unrecognized user entry.

Thanks again, let me know if you think of any other formats/character
delimiters I can try.
