Space Screensaver

I copied the "Space.scr" Screensaver file from my Windows ME Machine (in the
bedroom) to my XP Media Center Machine (in the livingroom) via my home
network because I want to use the "Space" screensaver on my XP machine. I
copied the "space.scr" file into the c:\windows\system32 folder, but the
Video>Properties>Screensaver list shows all of the other "stock Windows"
scr's, but the downloaded "Space" screensaver doesn't appear on the dropdown
selection list.

My question is whether or not the "Space.scr" file is compatible with XP. If
it is compatible, how do I get it to show up on the list to use it? If it's
not compatible, does anyone know where I can get an XP-compatible version?

Thanks in advance.

I tried the same thing, from a XP MCE machine and when I
clicked on the file it popped up a Windows that said it was
only for MCE. Don't know about the ME version.

do a search for the file to make sure you downloaded/installed in the
directory that you intended.

search for *.scr on base of root directory. then it will search all
directories.

Dennis,

I initially did a search to see where all the "*.scr" programs were, and the
search results said they were in the c:\windows\system32 folder. When I
looked there, they were, indeed there, along with the new "space.scr" file
that I moved from the ME Machine. The only difference is that all of the XP
screensavers had a filename of "ssFILENAME.scr". I then changed the
downloaded filename to match the existing ones (on the XP machine), but it
still wont run.

I think it might be a compatibility issue with the original file being on an
ME machine vs. putting it onto an XP machine.
