sp4 tftp.exe

I've seen that several other people have experienced this
same problem - tftp.exe is open or in use by another
application - but no other applications are running and it
doesn't show up in the processes or applications.

I haven't found what's using it yet. If anyone knows what
to do, please post.

Thanks,
Wendy K.

This situation typically arises when a piece of software running in the
background is holding an exclusive handle open to the file in question.
Please make sure you have no software like antivirus software etc running in
the background when you are trying to install the SP.

I am also getting a Service Pack 4 Setup Error with a
locked tftp.exe file. I closed all programs and tried to
update in safe mode and I still get the same error.

Just before I downloaded the SP-4, I was, and still am
getting the following error message every time I start up
windows: "explorer.exe has generated errors and will be
closed by windows ..." I downloaded the latest security
patch for the Blaster worm plus I scanned my computer
using Symantec's MS Blaster removal tool which came up
negative. I also did a full system scan with Norton Anti-
Virus using the latest definitions and I came up clean.

I tried to rename the tftp.exe file but it is locked. Is
there a way to prevent this file from being used or to
free it up?

Thanks.

Evan L.
