SP4 Causes Error- Fix ?

Ron Rushing

Applied SP4.

WHen TS or consoling in, I get a message similar to:

"The ordinal 175 could not be located in the dynamic link
library USERENV.dll"

I had hoped it was just TS hosed up. But-- sitting at the
colcone..same problem
I get the background screen, but no icons nor cursor.
I can still hit Cntl-Alt-Del and reboot, but that is it.

This happened once before on a machine but rebooting it
and reapplying SP fixed the problem--not this time.
SUggestions ? SInce I can't get into it to reinstall
anything...

Yeah, a reapplication of the service pack should fix your
problem (if you can reapply it).

Did you happen to install the service pack through a
terminal services connection?

Can you boot Windows into safe mode to try and reapply?

I got this info off the windows update newsgroup.

I ended up replacing the user32.dll, userenv.dll and
userinit.exe. I checked these files out on a different
server and they were all dated 6-19-03. The user32.dll and
userenv.dll were dated 11-1-02 on the problem server.
After replacing them I was able to login normally.
