SP3 Interrupted

Edward

My daughter's laptop had started installing SP3, downloaded earlier.
Unfortunately it was taking so long she cancelled the install.

Can anyone tell me how to restart the install?

TIA for any help.

First go to Update check install history. SP3 is KB952069. Should show if
install was successful. Also check Add/Remove Programs to see if it is
listed. If it is listed in Add/Remove Programs and Update shows failed
installation or you are not sure if it was successful, uninstall it. You can
see if Update will try to reinstall SP3 or do as Gupreet Singh suggested and
download the file from MS and install it.
The file is about 320 MB and install will take a long time. Almost as bad as
Vista SP1.

1. Reboot.

2. Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com | select CUSTOM & scan | The
installation should resume where it left off.

WinXP SP3 - Read all prerequisites for a successful installation
http://msmvps.com/blogs/harrywaldro...requisites-for-a-successful-installation.aspx

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3) and *only until* 14 Apr-09.
Go to http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=1173 | select
"Windows XP" then select "Windows XP Service Pack 3.
