SP3 causing - found unreadable content errors

Hello All,

Since rolling out Office 2003 SP3 i have had a few issues with office
products but have managed to fix most of them except this one.

I have a user who has a spreadsheet with pivot tables and graphs in it. When
he opens it after SP3 it comes up with an "Excel found unreadable content in
'filename.xls' Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook.'

I am not sure why this is happening. If we open the same file on a PC with
Excel 2003 SP2 machine it opens no worries. Does anyone know what in the
latest SP3 would cause this error in Excel?

Would appreaciate any help on this.

Thanks,

Ben

Just to add: I have found macros sometimes stop working with machines that
have been upgraded to SP3. One problem is installing SP3 on PCs without SP1
or SP2. But the problem can still happen if 1 and 2 are installed. Doing a
repair of Office sometimes helps.

Hi,

Perhaps your xls file is damaged. I think you can try a utility called Advanced Excel Repair to repair your Excel xls file. It works rather well for my corrupt Excel xls files. Its web address is http://www.datanumen.com/aer/ Hope this helps.
