SP2

I received a copy of SP2 in an automatic upgrade download, and I'm wondering
if it's safe to install it. I'm using XP Home with SP1.

Perfectly safe. Shut down all background programs, get off the net and have at

and do EVERYTHING that it suggests. I did and I had a flawless upgrade.

I would not advise you to install it! It has completely screwed up my
computer, now it is slow, I have tried to uninstall it but my computer did
not get as fast as it used to be before I install the SP2. I would wait
untill they make modifications to the SP2.
