SP2 wreaking havoc with my machine

After installing SP2 the following occured.
+Norton AV 2004 no longer working properly
+Volume control and mixer from windows accessories gone
+all printers were gone
+all internet/network connections were gone and it
wouldn't allow me to set up new ones. But I was still
connecting to the web through my old connection even
though no connections were shown.
+Who knows what else, I stopped trying at that point and
did a system restore to before the installation.

What gives? Any ideas?
