SP2 won't install

I am building a new computer for a friend. He gave me his copy of WinXP, it
has on it Media Set (Instead of Media Center) so I'm not sure whether that
has anythihng to do with it or not. I have went to Windows Update and also
through Microsoft's Website to try to download SP2, it sits there awhile then
say has not been successfully installed. Windows said it activated okay. I
have done this many times and never ran into a situation like this without
some sort of explanation (i'e. activation required) My husband ran into this
with a corporate edition but he doesn't remember what he did to fix the
problem.

1. Download and install the MGA Diagnostic Tool:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=56062

2. After running the WGA Diagnostic Tool, click
on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard".

3. Next, paste the results as a reply to this newsgroup thread for analysis.
