The first thing to check is if you can see the server on the network,
network neighborhood. If the server is not visible, and other computers
are visible, then the problem resides with the server. Is it set for a
static IP address or DHCP? Can you ping the IP address? Can you see it
in the DHCP client table of the router if DHCP? If all of these fail,
then you will have to start with the TCP/IP setup to reinitialize the
unit - the management program, the name I cannot recall, will not work.
Turning it off and then back on often cures problems with this print
server in my experience. Otherwise, the unit has a habit of
intermittent failures to log onto the network just before it fails
permanently...from my experience with it. Rejoice though, there are
better, more reliable, and cheaper parallel port servers available.
I really doubt if the connection to SP2 is anything more than
coincidental.
