xp sp2 will not finish loading.

Hello,


i Downloaded xp sp2 and i get as far as 'updating your system.finishing
installation,about 2 thirds through ,seems to stall for ages then get error
message :
'service Pack 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close;
i have tried about 5 times now and same problem can anyone please help?
thankyou.
Running pentium 4 xp pro 3.2, 1gig memory . also firewall & anti virus
turned off whilst loading sp2.
