All,

I'm pulling out my hair trying to get a good install of Windows XP. As
noted above this is my fourth try. These installs have been on a Dell
Precision 530 Workstation With the most recent Bio's A10 having been
applied . my loading order is as follows.

D:\Windows XP

Nvidia Drivers - 61.77_win2kxp_english

Creative Labs Audigy drivers (only) thru AUD_WEBUP_PCWDRV_1-84-40

E:\Microsoft\Plus! Digital Media Edition

SP2

E:\Utilities\SystemWorks 2005

E:\Utilities\ZoneAlarm 5.1

E:\Utilities\SpywareBlaster 3.2

E:\Utilities\Ad-Aware SE 1.05

E:\Utilities\Spybot 1.3

- TeaTimer

E:\Microsoft\Virtual PC 2004

E:\Microsoft\Visual Studio .NET 2003

E:\Microsoft\MSDN - April 2004

E:\Microsoft\Office 2003

- OneNote 2003

E:\Microsoft\Encarta 2005

E:\Microsoft\Visual Studio Tools for Office 2003

E:\Utilities\Nero 6.xx

The problem occurs somewhere around here - Most recently my system hung
during the upgrade of Nero 6.X to 6.3.1 which caused me to control+alt+del,
The problem was some kind of Ghost issue. After that time I was unable to
boot into my system in normal mode. Additionally I have lost the ability to
boot into "Safe Mode" on all three of my previous attempts. The system "Safe
Mode Boot" hangs when it attemps to load the agp440.sys driver?? I've
noticed this on other machines I've installed recently, not being able to
boot into "Safe Mode".

The only thing new in the above setup routine is the install of SP2 and
SystemWorks 2005 Premier

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hans-Georg,
Do you know if the current version of Nero 6.3.1.25 solves the problem???
Unfortanatly the FAQ for the release just says the it fixes an
incompadibility issue with SP2 and not what issue it fixes...more spacificly
does it fix the issue of not booting into "Safe Mode"?

CES,

yes, to my knowledge it does.

However, there could be other problems on the computer. I would
recommend to look into http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm in any
case.
