SP2 offline installation

I've got a PC with Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, SP1 (GERMAN
version). I have to install Visual C++ Express beta 2 on that PC, and it says
that SP2 is required.

Since I don't have an Internet access on that PC I'm looking for:
WINDOWS XP SP2 OFFLINE INSTALLATION FILES (to burn on CD)

where can I find them??

2nd question: Is it possible that XP will not work anymore after the
installation of SP2 ? (in that case I'll continue using Dev-CPP).

thank you

Order the CD here from the link on this page (as well as some additional SP2
information there for you) if you'd like:

Windows XP Service Pack 2:

In your second question, I've not seen a case where XP failed to continue to
work if the best practices for installation were followed. Some third party
applications may require updates after SP2 but *most* seem to still work
just fine.

Thank you Galen, but I knew that's possible to order that CD (is it free, by
the way)? The problem is that I have to do a homework in C++ till tomorrow
and I should install that SP2 immediatly.

ISN'T IT POSSIBLE TO DOWNLOAD THE CONTENT OF THAT CD ??

SP2 is available at the Microsoft Download Center (standalone
"network" version, 266 MB):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=049c9dbe-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a

(disregard the "intended for IT professionals and developers" part,
it can be used on a single computer as well)

Be sure to select the correct language for your OS before starting the
download.

For folders you can consider deleting and other disk cleanup tips
after a successful SP2 installation, take a look here:

There is always a chanche that you can end up with an unbootable
computer, albeit the risk is small.
