Help please.

When I installed sp2 it messed up my graphics. I had to
run with 4 bit graphics, so I uninstalled it in hope to
get information as to why it does this. I'm using an
intel chipset if that helps.

How can I run with my usual settings 1024 x 768 with 32
bit (highest)?

Thanks for any help.

you didn't specify which video card you have, but i suggest you get the
latest (SP2 compatible) driver for your video hardware, go to the vendor's
website, download the newest driver, install it, reinstall SP2

I can't find what my video card is. I tried the debug
thing through CMD prompt, but it tells me nothing. When
I look at the 'settings' option on 'Display Properties'
it just says (Default Monitor) on.

Any ideas?

Try Lowering your refresh rate.

Sometime, I found out old xp drivers work better. When i was using
xp sp1.

Start menu, Settings, Control Panel, System applet, Hardware tab, Device
Manager button, expand Display adapters (+) tree, write down the *exact*
name of the display adapter

go to the website of the vendor who manufactured you display adapter, look
for the latest Windows XP drivers for your particular model of adapter
installed in your machine

download the drivers, install them, restart, reinstall SP2, restart

Right click the My Computer icon/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/Display
Adapters. Other options are: Start/Run/msinfo32/Components/Display and/or:

For a detailed list of all installed software and hardware:

In the Software Versions section you'll see all of your installed software.
At the end of each entry is a clickable asterisk that will take you to the
folder the software is installed in.

Hi Greg! :)
From what I understand, XP drivers are not the ones you want to use. I
would suggest going to the manufacturer's website and downloading the
latest set of drivers there.

Maybe your systems were unstable before you installed SP2. I have put it on
six different systems with zero problems.

But of course, I know how to use a computer and keep my registry/memory/file
system in check.

For those that had problems, you probably had so much garbage in your
registry, spyware, misconfigured apps, outdated drivers, etc. that it caused
problems.

Instead of bitching at MS, try cleaning up your system FIRST. Enjoy
re-installing windows. Ha ha. :)

Reinstall/update graphic card.Get the latest driver from the
manufacturer's website.
