sp2 installation error

when i try and install it onto a freshly installed copy of xp home i get a
data error 'cyclic redundancy check' error msg

thanks in advance for any help

Either the cd containing SP2 is a bad burn or damaged or your optical
drive needs to be replaced.

Assuming that this is a downloaded copy, the download was bad and needs to
be redone. If it's on a CD, the CD is bad (or, less likely, it could be the
CD drive).
