SP2 Installation Error - I Have No Idea!

Hi,

I was upgrading a friends PC - New Mobo, Processor, etc.
Installed XP ok, no problems, but when i came to install SP2(off the
official SP2 disk), i get this error; "Update.ver is not correct".

I don't get it!I haven't done anything apart from install XP, and that went
fine. Any Ideas? Please Help!!

No the problem isn't with the activation. That all went ok.
I installed XP Pro no worries, all activated.
It's when i install SP2 the problem occurs. I don't understand it

I have seen errors similar to that when attempting to install a Service Pack
on a Beta or other pre-release version of Windows XP?
Is it a genuine Microsoft CD and not a burned copy?
If that is not the case, follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist:
