SP2 Installation Disk Space

My computer has a partitioned hard drive. "C" is 5 gb
with only 350 mb free. "D" is 10 gb with 8 gb free. I
have the SP2 CD, and it calls for 900 mb free space for
installation. Does this refer to free space on "C" or
does the free space on "D" count. I don't think there
are enough things on "C" that I can delete to reach 900
mb free space.

C.

You only need about 1.2 GB for XP on C. You can temporarily uninstal spome
programs on C, or simply store program folders on D till you upgrade to SP2,
then paste/move them back on C.
Anyway, you need at least 10% (rather 15 or 20, actually) on C for Defrag.
and other installations.
While you're at it, repartition the drives C:10GB (minimum), D: 5GB, then do
a fresh XP install (try slipstreaming SP2).
Even if SP2 installs using the space on logical D, still you're short of
space on C.

It will be struggle now and going forward. Do you have any very large
programs you could easily uninstall and reinstall later. Moving the
pagefile is possible but these are desperate measures. It may be
possible to extend the C partition if you can back up the files there
now.

Try moving files and program applications to drive D, they will still work,
just be place on a different drive ( you can access any partition as long as
they are of the same type) [ Has 3 partitions on my personal system, and
mulitbooting 98 Second Edition, W2K Pro SP4, and XP SP2, with no errors,
corruptions or blue screens of death, and I custom built my system]
