SP2 install will not complete

The SP2 cd has been running in my for almost 7 hours.
The progress bar had reached 3/4 of the way across, and stopped. It is headed
'Finishing installation' followed by "performing cleanup"; and there it
remains. A message from ZA refers to"Windows service pack setup is trying to
modify an existing driver or service: SENS". I allow this but the message
reappears every few minutes, the titles remain and the bar stays where it has
been.
There is No error message and my hardisc lamp is still blinking. Any idea's
what i can do to facilitate completion? Is it safe to remove disc? Thanks in
advance for any assistance.

....and of course a FULL backup, e.g. a Norton Ghost image is/was absolutely
essential before installing XP SP2

regards, Richard

You should disable zone alarm, the AV program and any other programs that do
real time monitoring while doing the SP2 update.

I don't know what you should do to get out of this without problems but if
it's stalled then the choices are limited. Pop the CD or what's more likely
turn the system off and see it will reboot and finish. Here are some links
on SP2 installation.

How are you trying to install SP2 - from windows update, the downloaded
version or the SP2 CD? If the former I would suggest you do either of the
other two. That way you can safely disable Zone Alarm and the AV program.
