sp2 got rid of my sound

Since I have updated to Windows Service Pack 2 my sound has no longer worked.
It says that my Yamaha something something...... isn't compatiable with
this. But I am required to have sp2 for hooking into my college LAN. I have
done this before and was able to download some sort of file to get my sound
back. But I have done a system restoration on my computer just today, and I
can't find where that file is located. Please help me!!!

What is the make and model of the sound card? Is it a stand alone card
or integrated with the motherboard?

Get updated sound card drivers. Get them from:

1. The card mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

When you do a major upgrade to your OS, you often need to install the
drivers needed to work in that NEW MS OS.
