He may want to actually go back to a more compatible O/S!
Dont know if you noticed, but Microsoft is breaking as many things as they
are fixing! I actually had to uninstall SP1 of Server 2003 on my domain
controller because it was not compatible with my hardware. I think that is
an excellent reason to not get on the 'upgrade bandwagon.'
Outside the IT world, a lot of people and businesses have very good reasons
for not going with the status quo. I know of several businesses that have
absolutely no need to upgrade their NT and Win98 networks to 2003 and XP,
except that they cant get support from MS on those products any more. And
honestly, at this point, those O/S's have become so deprecated, it could
even be argued that they are more secure (once patched to date) without all
these extra technologies available.
Brooklyn... if you have a good reason to go back to SP1, then by all means,
dont let anyone discourage you from doing so. Sooner or later Microsoft
will realize they are quickly making their products extremely unattractive
to the business desktop. And the more of us that insist on sticking with
what we know works, the sooner that may be.
Just my 2 cents
