Cannot find any possible solution for this problem, so hopefully someone can
help. My windows XP CD is pre-SP1 and when installed works flawlessly with
all of my other programs. When i download and install the SP2 package, my
computer went haywire. Whenever i now logon to my computer, it goes to the
desktop and the mouse will respond at any length of time. If i open any kind
of program or window, the computer will freeze after a minute or two that the
window was opened. I have the latest BIOS for my motherboard (Foxconn
865PE7MC-ES) and my processor is a Celeron D 330J. I found a microsoft tech
article stating problems with BIOS and Prescott processors, so i downloaded
the patch but it did not help. Please help me figure this out cause it is
very frustrating!!! If you need any additional info, let me know and i'll
post it. The computer is a Compaq, but the mobo was fried so i installed the
new Foxconn mobo and new processor. I sent the mobo off to update the BIOS
cause it wouldn't post with my processor. It now works fine until i install
the SP2. I have contacted Foxconn and am awaiting a response from them.
