Ethernet Controller

Hi All,

Please could someone help i am getting pretty desperate!!!!!

I have purchased a second hand DC7100c HP Compaq P4 machine and installed
Windows XP on it.

Everything works fine but i am unable to get onto the internet. The cause of
the problem is the Ethernet Controller, which is showing an exclamation mark
in Computer Management.

The controler is an onboard ethernet controller and i have checked the make
which is foxconn. I have been on to the HP website and downloaded ALL the
DC7100c Lan drivers, installed them on the machine but i still can't get the
ethernet controller to work. I have also downloaded the Ethernet controller
drivers from foxconn and installed them onto the computer but i still get an
exclamation mark in Computer Management.

I know the nick card is working and, it also has lights on.

Please can someone help me find the right drivers for this device or point
me in the right direction.

Kind Regards

Instead of persevering with an NIC that not seem to work
properly, why not buy a PCI adapter? They cost very little
and they come complete with a driver CD.

You can try www.driverguide.com.

Hi Pegasus,

Thanks for the advise...i do not have additional slots in order to install
the PCI adapter card. This would be my last resort.

Do you know where i could pick up the drivers?????

Kind Regards.

There is no card, its integrated to the motherboard.

Per HPs webpage, its a Broadcom 5751 PCI-Express LAN Controller.

Per HP specs on the your particular model, you have various open slots. Per
another reply, you don't have any open PCI slots. My guess is whatever you
added PCI slotwise is interfering with the proper irq designation for the
LAN controller.

Go to Add New Hardware and uninstall/Remove the NIC. After which restart you
computer. Windows will find the NIC and try to re-install the drivers.

Not if XP is using the bios handover, and was never designated a hardware
irq in the bios detection of hardware.
