SP2 and security settings or link to Norton antivirus?

After installing the WXPSP2 on my portable PC, it
presents a window showing the new features(Windows
firewall, automatic updates, security center, etc...). It
tells me "Norton Antivirus reports that it is installed,
but its status is unknown". I check the recommendations
and have made sure everything is up to date, yet the
security center continues to report "check status". Is
there a fix to link Norton with this system? Have I
missed a setting somewhere in the setup?
