Hi all,

I'm not sure this belongs in this group, but it is a SP2 problem.

Since I installed SP2 neither of my CD drives will work! I have a CD-rom
and a DVD/CD-RW drive. They both appear to be loaded in device manager and
it says both are functioning properly (yeah right), but when I try to read a
CD of any kind they will not work. Occationally The DVD/CD-RW will work, but
not very often. I know I am not alone here, others have had similar problems.

Does Microsoft know about this or does anyone have any ideas?

I did download the Autoplay Repair Wizard "Autofix" to see if that would
have any affect and the funny thing is, is that when the program was running
both drives actualy worked, but as soon as the program was done running
through its test, they went back to not working.

Help please, I need my drives.
Thank you!!!!
John

Taurarian thank you for replying!

Although neither of these articles had realy anything to do with my problem
I thought I would give them a try and see if they helped, since I did have
Easy CD creator installed at one time (I think I have reformatted and
reinstalled WinXP since then). The problem is now worse than before. Now
Windows will not even recognize I have a DVD player installed. So I am
restoring these changes.

Anyone else have any suggestions? How about the MVP's any of you have
anything on this?????

Thanks,
John
